Investment Review: Seer.ai
This post is part of my angel investing series where I review investments after they’re completed. These posts are not investment advice, solicitations, or offers of any kind. They are simply my thoughts on companies I’ve invested in and how they fit into my thesis.
For background on my approach to angel investing and my investment thesis, see my introduction to this series.
Company Overview
Finally, something in the space part of my thesis. Seer.ai is a data and analytics platform for spatiotemporal data.
More satelites, more geospatial data, more need for platforms to extract value from it.
Thesis Fit
Macro trends:
- Costs to get payloads to space are coming down fast
- More satellites means more data
- Spatiotemporal data is still really hard to work with
Founder fit:
- Deep expertise the spatiotemporal data space
- Strong technical chops
Conclusion
This is finally a company that I like and is capitalizing on the macro trends in space and AI/ML. It’s a really important set of problems to solve and the use cases for the data we’re starting to see collected are innumerable.
I’m excited to see where they go.
