Stargazers CLI Update: Nested Commands, Account Trends, and Plotting!
Big news for users of the stargazers CLI! The latest update brings a cleaner command structure and some powerful new features for analyzing your GitHub stars and forks. (See the commit here)
All Commands Now Under stargazers
Previously, the CLI had separate entry points for different commands. Now, everything is neatly organized under the main stargazers
command. This means you’ll run subcommands like:
stargazers repos ...
stargazers forkers ...
stargazers account-trend ...
This change makes the CLI more intuitive and easier to extend in the future.
New Feature: Account Trend Analysis
Want to see how your GitHub stars are trending over time, across all your repositories? The new account-trend
subcommand does exactly that! It fetches and analyzes star data for your entire account, letting you:
- Track new stars by day
- See cumulative star growth
- Export the data to CSV for further analysis
New Feature: Plotting
Data is great, but visuals are better! The CLI now supports terminal-based plotting for trends and analysis. You can quickly visualize:
- Star growth over time
- Account-wide trends
No need to export to Excel or another tool—just run the command and see your data right in the terminal.
Recap of What’s New
